OKTOBERFEST SEASON IS UPON US!!!. The most famous German celebration has been happening for over 200 years. It is so über that it has its own special brew – Oktoberfest beer. And GTHS ensures Austin gets to share in this celebration as the second most famous Oktoberfest happens right here in Austin, Texas.. “the German-Texan Heritage Society certainly brings the most authentic Oktoberfest game in town” – Austin Chronicle. We’re located in the heart of the Red River Cultural District where you will find one of Austin’s best kept secrets, the German Free School: a historical building and terraced gardens to enjoy the afternoon of all things German and Gemütlichkeit. Gemütlichkeit, you ask? It’s a German word used to describe a state of belonging, warmth, and friendliness. Bands: Yodel Blitz (11am – 2pm), Walburg Boys (2pm -5:00pm), Off the Grid (5:30pm-7:00pm). Our family friendly event offers a lot of kids activities and children 12 and under are free. And of course German food and drinks.
