Because many German families immigrated to the United States, there are still several cities across the country that reflect the influence of German Culture, their home country. These are areas where there were a substantial number of German settlers/immigrants. Although there are other smaller cities and many other towns with German-style buildings, the following eight cities are the best known.

Leavenworth, Washington

This small town used to be a lumber town before the 1960s. At this point in time, the town was made over to be in the style of Bavarian villages. It is now a traditional Romantische Strasse village. It is nestled with the beautiful Cascades Mountain behind it. Alpine-styled buildings are found on Front Street. Several restaurants that serve German food and beer are located in this town center.

There is also a museum that features thousands of nutcrackers—even some from previous centuries. This village leads to local ski areas. In the winter the “Village of Lights” comes to life, offering visitors and townspeople a unique holiday venue.

In addition to the German restaurants and taverns, there are three Bavarian-style Inns if you want to immerse yourself in German culture. These Inns are the Linderhof Inn and the Bavarian Ritz Hotel, which are located in the heart of the town. And the Bavarian Lodge, which overlooks the village center. All in all, it is a beautiful choice to soak up German culture.
