German TV on Roku

(starts at $29.99)

German TV on Roku

In our online stream list above in the web section, we already mentioned the YouTV which offers a channel for Roku to watch over their service. Therefore if you have a Roku TV or Roku plug-in device for your TV you can add it to your channel selection. I would not purchase a Roku plugin device just for the German channel since the YouTV offer can be viewed on a computer as well, but Roku offers other good features and starting at $29.99 for a device can be worthwhile. Another option may be the Roku app on cellphones or tablets available for iOS and Android. I have not tried it yet, but it is on my list of things to do and will update here accordingly.

German TV on Cable

Cable providers usually don’t offer German TV on Cable even though they offer other European Channels as premium packages. Overall the channel selection varies if they offer it at all. AT&T DirectTV does not offer German TV even though they offer many other Countries. Identically Fios as well does not offer German TV but they offer Italian, Russian and French TV. Comparatively, Comcast Xfinity and Spectrum only offer Deutsche Welle which is really pretty weak. Be that as it may, there are many other cable providers in the US that may offer German TV and some of the ones mentioned may offer it in your area. It’s always worth checking but be prepared to pay a premium for the add-on.

German TV on Satellite

German offers on Satellite

Dish satellite is a bit better when it comes to German TV channels. They offer 6 channels Eurochannel, Euronews, DW Deutsch+, My German TV (2 channels), ProSieben.Sat1 Welt. However, counting Eurochannel and Euronews as German TV may be a bit of a stretch to make the package look more valuable but from what I can tell it is only 4 channels and costs $29.99.

In conclusion, there are several options available and if you have a computer or a Smart TV the online option is your best bet. Most of the content is available for free or for a small monthly fee with a huge online offer available from the GermanTV Company. However, if you want a bit more comfort with remote control, German TV on Roku with the YouTV add-on seems to be a good option.

There are also other options with the KODI platform and plugins. This is a bit more complicated and requires some technical knowledge. If enough people are interested, I’ll do another post just for the KODI platform. Leave a comment below or email us a request.

To clarify this list and offers above are by no means complete and I will update the info as I get new updates or other offers become available. German TV is still one of the harder offers to find but things are not as complicated as they used to be. Also if you have any other ways to watch German TV, please comment below or email us at [email protected]. Lastly, GermanUSA and I are not affiliated with any of the above providers and no compensation was received from them to write this article.
